Caring Is Creepy is a new collaboration between Margate promoters Art's Cool and fellow Margate residents Moshi Moshi Records. It will be a multi-venue 3-day festival taking place on 25th-27th May and in this, its first year, will be based across 5 venues that are no more than a 5-10 minute walk away from each other in Cliftonville, Margate.

The vibes will be eclectic and wholesome, like an urban safari version of End Of the Road. Tasteful but never dull. A celebration of the new dawning of independent culture in Margate.

Headlining the festival this year will be Teleman, returning to Margate for the third time in recent years and showcasing tracks from their forthcoming third album. It will be their first official show since finishing the album recording so the first chance to hear the new material played live anywhere. One of the UK’s most interesting and respected guitar-bands of recent years their simple, sonorous brew of guitar, drum and synths is not at all unusual, but with it they craft exquisite pop songs that instantly spark your musical curiosity. Live they are a thrilling proposition and this will be a rare chance to see them in a small venue.

Blending wiry post-punk with unpredictable art-rock, Drahla have established themselves as a formidable and distinctive band across their two sold out 7” singles and the ‘Third Article’ EP. So far they have earned support from a litany of radio shows, magazines and tastemakers, including the likes of BBC 6 Music, DIY, and Loud & Quiet. Their reputation as a fervent live act is ever-growing, typified by them being asked to share stages with the likes of Parquet Courts, The Cribs, Buzzcocks, Dream Wife, Menace Beach and more.

THE RHYTHM METHOD are vocalist and lyricist Joey Bradbury and songwriter Rowan Martin, “the London duo who are managing to accomplish the hitherto impossible seeming task of making indie music that feels brand new.” (The Guardian). Counting the likes of Mike Skinner and Suggs as fans the duo have carved out a unique space for themselves in the musical landscape and produced something which is both familiar and unique at the same time. Its hard to not be drawn in by their heart-on-its-sleeve lyrical observation and delivery.

Benin City Band is London-based three-piece comprising vocalist and poet Joshua Idehen, vocalist Shanaz Dorsett and multi-instumentalist Tom Leaper. Their new album Last Night, an ode to London’s nightlife, is released on Moshi Moshi Records in June. As you might expect, their live show is a joyous and poignant celebration of all that is great about club culture.
